Took the Bait

Matt and I have been saving for 2 years to buy a house. We want to get out of Provo! We are planning on living here for awhile for Matt's job and possibly phd school for Matt. We had just given up hope of getting a house we liked in Utah when Matt received a call from a banker we've been working with. She said that Utah just passed a 6,000 tax incentive for first time home buyers who buy new houses. With Obamas 8,000 tax incentive that meant $14,000 dollars worth of tax incentives which woke up Matt to get back on the MLS.

We still weren't finding much until one Sunday a house in traverse mountain was posted which is a great area for the cheapest price we've ever seen especially for the square footage. We both thought it looked gorgeous and knew it would go fast. It was a built in 2007 and was a foreclosure, but has never been lived in. It's 4 bed 2.5 bath, 3268 sq feet, and has granite countertops and travertine tile. It has a unfinished basement and a decent size yard (not that that matter to us).

We quickly called the real estate agent to set up a tour because offers on these houses usually come 2 days after it's listed. We toured it and were waiting to find something wrong with it. We couldn't find a thing wrong with it. We then decided what the heck why don't we put in an offer.

We didn't think we would get it because there were other offers on the house. They called us the next day and said that we got the house! We love the house and the neighborhood. It's 5 minutes from Matt's current company and 1 minute away from church. It's also exactly halfway between Salt Lake and Provo. There are also some nice walking and hiking trails behind our house. Houses in this area were selling in the lower 400s before the recession, but we got it for half of it's peak ($70 per sq ft).

Here are some pictures of the house.
